FDA Traces Cyclospora Outbreak to Specific Farms in Central Mexico, Retailers Shift Purchases
The Food and Drug Administration has traced the cyclospora outbreak across nine states to specific growing regions and farms in central Mexico, Scott Gottlieb said. Retailers and restaurants with supply chain management have already shifted their lettuce purchasing to mitigate consumer risk.
The outbreak is linked to shredded iceberg lettuce. Health officials advised customers to further reduce risk by sourcing whole head lettuce and other produce locally.
