National Fraternal Order of Police Endorses Revised CLARITY Act After Law Enforcement Provisions
The Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed the Senate's revised CLARITY Act, reversing its prior opposition after the crypto market-structure bill added new law enforcement funding and blockchain analytics provisions. The 382,000-member organization stated that its initial concerns were addressed, clearing a major roadblock for the legislation.
The updated draft added a dedicated section for crypto crime investigations, creating a new cyber center, funding training programs for prosecutors, and requiring stablecoin issuers to comply with orders to freeze or seize tokens. The bill also preserved the previously contested developer safe harbor protection. Lawmakers are racing to finalize bipartisan negotiations before the August congressional recess.
