Morgan Stanley Beats Second-Quarter Estimates on Record $6.3 Billion in Equity Trading Revenue
Morgan Stanley reported second-quarter earnings of $3.46 a share on revenue of $21.35 billion, beating Wall Street expectations. The results were led by a record $6.3 billion in equity trading revenue, which easily surpassed the $4.47 billion forecast, alongside investment banking revenue of $2.44 billion that also beat estimates.
The bank returned to shareholders a quarterly dividend raised to $1.15 per share and delivered a return on common equity of 26.6%. Wealth management added a record $148 billion in net new assets, while fixed income sales and trading revenue of $2.46 billion missed the $2.56 billion estimate.
