US March PCE Hits 3.5% as Core Inflation Holds at 3.2%
US personal consumption expenditures inflation rose 0.7% in March from the prior month and 3.5% from a year earlier, matching estimates. Core PCE, the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation measure, increased 0.3% on the month and 3.2% on the year, also in line with forecasts.
The March core reading marked a 61st consecutive reading above the Fed's 2% target, showing inflation pressures remained elevated even as both the headline and core measures came in as expected.
