Apple Stages Sharpest Rally in 9 Months After Earnings Beat
Apple Inc. shares rose more than 5% in U.S. trading on Friday, putting the stock on course for its sharpest one-day gain in nine months and adding about $200 billion in market value, after the company reported stronger-than-expected quarterly results and boosted guidance, citing demand for iPhones and Macs.
Post-earnings figures showed fiscal second-quarter revenue of $111.2 billion, topping estimates, with earnings per share of $2.01 versus $1.93 expected. iPhone sales rose 22%, while investors also focused on higher memory costs that could pressure Mac margins.
