Intel Foundry Completes Pentagon Chip Security Program, Clears Path to Secure 18A Defense Production
Intel Foundry has completed the RAMP-C program, a U.S. Department of War initiative launched in October 2021 to develop secure, leading-edge domestic semiconductor manufacturing. The initiative progressed through three phases of design enablement, delivering validated prototypes built on the company’s Intel 18A process technology.
The milestone paves the way for the Secure Enclave program, which will handle high-volume manufacturing of advanced microelectronics for U.S. government applications. By incorporating RibbonFET and PowerVia features, the Intel 18A node is designed to improve performance per watt and density for defense industrial base customers, establishing a repeatable pathway for allied and international partners to scale secure chip production.
