Strategy Reports $8.22 Billion Q2 Loss on Bitcoin Mark-Downs, Expands Holdings to 843,775 Coins and Cuts Debt
Strategy reported a net loss of $8.22 billion for the second quarter of 2026, a sharp reversal from $10.02 billion in net income a year earlier. The loss was driven by an $8.32 billion unrealized markdown on the company’s digital asset holdings, pushing operating income to a loss of $8.33 billion.
Despite the earnings hit, the company expanded its bitcoin holdings by 11% to 843,775 coins and reduced its convertible debt balance by 18% to $6.71 billion. Management increased the USD Reserve to $3.75 billion, stating the cash covers more than 2.1 years of preferred dividend and interest obligations. The company also posted $122.4 million in revenue, up 6.9% year over year, while announcing plans to repurchase its STRC preferred shares if the price trades below $100.
