Shell Profit Beats Estimates at $9.8 Billion, Funds $3 Billion Share Buyback
Shell reported a second-quarter adjusted profit of $9.84 billion, surpassing the consensus forecast of $8.79 billion and posting the highest quarterly earnings since 2022. Strong trading performance and refining margins that reached $24 per barrel offset production declines during the reporting period.
A conflict in the Middle East cut total oil and gas output by 31% compared with the previous quarter. The company also announced a new $3 billion share buyback for the third quarter and reduced net debt by nearly $11 billion to $41.8 billion.
