CXMT Sets Server Memory Prices Above Samsung, Secures More Than $10 Billion in Deals
Chinese memory chipmaker CXMT is dictating prices for artificial intelligence server memory, charging more than Samsung’s roughly $1,240 price for comparable 64GB DDR5 modules, Reuters reported, after securing a five-year supply agreement worth more than $7 billion with ByteDance and another valued over $3 billion with Tencent.
The pricing shift comes ahead of CXMT’s debut on the Shanghai stock exchange, following an $8.6 billion initial public offering that values the company at $85 billion. First-quarter revenue jumped 719 percent to $7.5 billion, and new factories are set to more than double monthly output to over 600,000 wafers. Beijing has recently steered state buyers toward domestic suppliers, while the firm reportedly held firm on recent price hikes despite pushback from client Huawei.

@teortaxestexLmao I think this isn't just about CXMT's strength (which is obvious given their near monopoly position). It's that Huawei has competitors. it's not clear they "deserve" chips more than half a dozen other supernode vendors.
