Super Micro Jumps 19.8% on Record $60 Billion Backlog and Higher Margin Forecast
Super Micro posted a gross margin forecast for the fiscal fourth quarter of 15% to 17%, nearly doubling its prior estimate of 8.2% to 8.4%, and booked more than $60 billion in new orders that lifted its backlog to a record high. Revenue is expected to land near the low end of a $11 billion to $12.5 billion guidance range.
Shares of the artificial intelligence server maker climbed 19.8% after the update, while Dell rose 9.8% on renewed confidence in data center spending. Short interest in the stock has reached near-record levels this year as the share price remains below its 2026 start, and the company will file final results on Aug. 11. The preliminary numbers reflect a favorable product and customer mix, though the company noted that some of the newly booked orders could still be delayed or canceled.
