Brazil Rejects New U.S. Tariffs of 10% to 12.5% on 60 Trading Partners
Brazil rejects the Trump administration's new tariff regime, calling the levies arbitrary and unjustified. The U.S. trade office announced that duties of 10% to 12.5% will apply to goods from 60 trading partners covering nearly all U.S. imports, with the new rates taking effect at 12:01 a.m. ET Friday.
The Section 301 duties replace a temporary 10% global levy that expired at the same moment and cite forced labor in supply chains as the basis for the assessments. They affect major economies including the European Union, Canada and India, while exempting oil, gas, fertilizer and food products. Brazil did not immediately outline retaliatory measures following the announcement.
