Iran Suspends Commitments Under MoU With US, Citing US Breaches
Iran has suspended implementation of its commitments under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding with the US, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said, accusing Washington of violating all of its obligations under the agreement and saying Tehran was no longer carrying out its own commitments.
Iran's ambassador to Pakistan later said months of mediation had produced a 14-point memorandum for continued talks and that the US had started a war contrary to its terms. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran was still pursuing diplomacy but no longer considered itself bound because the deal was based on "commitment for commitment," while Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said repeated US breaches showed the US president's signature was "worthless and unreliable" and warned that Iran and the "Axis of Resistance" had "unforgettable lessons" for Washington.
