Intel Invests $5.7 Billion To Expand Irish Chip Plant For Xeon 6 Processors
Intel announced a €5 billion ($5.7 billion) investment to expand manufacturing at its Leixlip campus in Ireland. The company will upgrade existing fabrication plants and install new equipment to scale production of Xeon 6 and next-generation processors built on the Intel 3 node.
The facility currently employs 4,900 people and is scheduled for completion by 2027. Intel stated the project will create hundreds of new jobs while supporting rising demand for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing chips. The expansion brings the company’s total investment in Ireland to more than €30 billion since 1989.
