Nvidia Partners With Japan’s Noetra to Supply 27,500 Rubin Chips for 140 MW Robotics AI Data Center
Nvidia will supply 27,500 Rubin GPUs and 13,750 Vera CPUs to Noetra, a Japanese consortium backed by the government, to build a 140 MW artificial intelligence data center. The facility will serve as the central compute hub for a national physical AI project developed by 44 companies across manufacturing, finance, and logistics.
The data center is backed by $2.4 billion in public funding and is scheduled to go online in June 2028. Noetra plans to release its first robotics foundation model by March 2027, targeting 10 million AI-equipped robots for deployment in Japan by 2040. The consortium is anchored by Sony, SoftBank, NEC and Honda, and operates under a broader $6.1 billion government grant program spanning five years.
