Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council plans to raise its science and technology budget by 6.2% to NT$176.8 billion, or US$5.48 billion, for next year, up from the current year’s allocation of NT$166.5 billion.

The expanded funding will support semiconductors, sovereign AI compute, quantum computing and robotics, alongside a new private sector space fund to develop satellite and supply chain technologies. The space fund initiative follows a direct request from Pegatron’s chairman to bolster the country’s space industry.
