SK Hynix Shares Plunge More Than 15% in Seoul After Nasdaq Debut
SK Hynix shares fell more than 15% on the Korea Exchange, marking the chipmaker’s worst single-day decline on record. The sell-off followed the company’s Nasdaq listing, where U.S.-listed shares advanced more than 12% on Friday. The stock dropped to 1.845 million won as investors took profits and navigated a repricing gap between the domestic shares and American depositary receipts.
The decline extended across South Korean markets, pushing the benchmark KOSPI index down 8.95% to 6,806.93 after a trading halt was triggered. Analysts attribute the correction to position rebalancing and the mechanics of the dual-listing transition rather than a slowdown in artificial intelligence memory demand. Volatility is likely to persist as the dual-listed shares establish a consistent pricing relationship.
