Moonshot Unveils Kimi K3, a 2.8T AI Model With Open Weights Due by July 27
Moonshot unveiled Kimi K3, a 2.8 trillion-parameter AI model that the Chinese startup says narrows the gap with top U.S. offerings. Artificial Analysis scored K3 at 57 on its Intelligence Index, behind Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol, while Arena ranked it No. 1 in Frontend Code Arena with 1,679 points.
Moonshot said Kimi K3 beat OpenAI and Anthropic systems on some benchmarks, though it still trailed Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol overall. The model supports a 1M-token context window and native multimodal input, is live on Moonshot's services and API, and the company said open weights will be released by July 27; pricing is $3 per 1M input tokens and $15 per 1M output tokens.
