Netflix Beats Second-Quarter Earnings, Cuts Third-Quarter Profit Guidance to 82 Cents
Netflix posted second-quarter earnings of 80 cents per share, beating the estimated 79 cents, on revenue of $12.56 billion, which was roughly in line with expectations. The streaming platform cut third-quarter earnings guidance to 82 cents a share and projected a third-quarter operating margin of 33.2 percent, both falling below Wall Street consensus.
The company lowered its full-year revenue growth forecast to between 13 percent and 14 percent from a prior 12 percent to 14 percent range. Alongside the financial results, Netflix announced it will reduce viewership reporting from twice annually to a single figure, shifting investor attention toward sales and profitability. Free cash flow came in at $1.53 billion against a $2.72 billion estimate, while the firm reaffirmed a target of approximately $3 billion in full-year advertising revenue.
