Meta Launches First Paid AI Developer API With Muse Spark 1.1 Priced at 25% of Rivals
Meta launched Muse Spark 1.1 on its new Model API, marking the first time the company charges developers for access to its artificial intelligence models. The updated agentic and coding model is now available through the public preview platform and Meta AI, priced at roughly a quarter of the cost of leading models from OpenAI and Anthropic.
Early benchmark results show the model competes with top-tier industry offerings, while Vals AI reported it ranked number one on MedScribe, TaxEval, and Harvey’s Legal Agent Bench. The rollout marks a strategic shift for Meta, which now views token usage as a standalone revenue stream rather than a learning exercise.
