Cursor Builds ‘Sand’ AI Office Agent To Challenge Anthropic, With $60 Billion SpaceX Acquisition Delaying Public Launch
Cursor is developing a general-purpose artificial intelligence agent named Sand that handles emails, text messages, spreadsheets and engineering tasks, expanding beyond its core developer coding tools.
The agent was rolled out internally in late June after the company began leasing computing capacity from SpaceXAI in April. A public launch is not guaranteed, particularly as a planned $60 billion acquisition by SpaceX could alter Cursor’s product roadmap.
