Iran says crude exports top 50 million barrels after US lifts blockade
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the country exported 50 million barrels of crude oil in the two weeks following the lifting of a U.S. blockade, generating $3.5 billion in revenue. According to tanker monitoring data from Tanker Trackers, the shipments equate to roughly 1.66 million barrels per day for June, with the majority of the cargo heading to China. The figure exceeds Ghalibaf’s earlier statement on Tuesday morning confirming exports of over 40 million barrels.
Ghalibaf also announced that Tehran is selling crude at a 20% premium compared to pre-blockade rates and has transferred $12 billion to the Central Bank to purchase goods in international markets. The export surge arrives as commercial vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz rebounds following recent geopolitical flare-ups. Ship trackers noted that while confidence is returning, commercial flows through the choke point and across the wider Middle East remain well below pre-conflict baselines.
