Anthropic's Fable 5 Hits 16.1% on Remote Labor Index, Topping 4.17% Prior Leader
Newly posted results put Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 atop the public Remote Labor Index leaderboard with a 16.1% score on a test of whether AI can complete real remote-work projects. A passage quoted from the report put the previous published leader at 4.17% and the best score when the index launched at 2.5%.
The Remote Labor Index uses 240 real projects from professional freelancers across 23 domains, representing more than $140,000 of human work. Reviewers compare AI output with the accepted human deliverable and judge whether a reasonable client would accept it, a setup that keeps scores low because the assignments still require planning, file handling, quality control, visual consistency, domain judgment and final packaging. Dan Hendrycks, who posted the results, wrote that the automation rate of remote projects has increased about fourfold in the past five months.
The benchmark milestone comes a day after Anthropic said the U.S. Commerce Department lifted export controls on Fable 5 and Mythos 5, less than three weeks after a June 12 order forced the company to suspend access to its most advanced models. Anthropic said Fable 5 would return globally with new classifiers to block more cybersecurity tasks; a small fraction of routine coding and debugging requests will temporarily fall back to Opus 4.8, and Pro, Max, Team and select Enterprise plans are capped at 50% of weekly usage limits through July 7.

@synthwaveddGood news - Anthropic have been given the go-ahead for a full, global relaunch of Fable 5 once the order is formally lifted! I believe they'll wait until they're back in office (so tomorrow at the earliest) before kicking it off however
