GigaDevice Warns Memory Chip Prices Face Downside Risk at Record Highs
Chinese memory chipmaker GigaDevice warned that price quotes for its memory products are at an all-time high and face considerable downside risk, which could negatively impact gross margins and profitability, according to media reports.
The company attributed the current pricing strength to capacity shifts by larger rivals like Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which are moving production toward higher-margin chips rather than a spike in end-user demand. GigaDevice, a major producer of NOR Flash memory, also manufactures SLC NAND and DDR3/DDR4 DRAM for the semiconductor market.
