Lebanon Raises Death Toll From Israeli Attacks Since March 2 to 4,175; South Lebanon Building Damage Estimated at $1.38 Billion
Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health put the cumulative death toll from Israeli attacks since March 2 at 4,175, up from the 4,057 reported two days earlier. A separate UN-backed assessment estimated direct damage to buildings in southern Lebanon at about $1.38 billion and said more than 11,000 structures had been destroyed.
The updated figures follow renewed fighting in southern Lebanon on June 20, less than a day after a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah was announced. Later that day, Israel ordered its military to halt fire while keeping forces in areas it controlled in southern Lebanon, after saying Hezbollah had fired more than 50 projectiles at its troops overnight; Hezbollah said it had attacked only after Israeli forces tried to advance near the Ali Taher ridge.
