OpenAI Expands Daybreak Cyber Program With GPT-5.5-Cyber, Open Source Patching Effort
OpenAI added a Codex Security plugin, the full version of its GPT-5.5-Cyber model for trusted defenders, a Cyber Partner Program and an open-source remediation initiative called Patch the Planet to its Daybreak cyber-defense program.
Codex Security can run deep scans, validate findings, trace attack paths, build threat models, generate codebase-specific patches for review and export results into existing tools. Participating companies in the Cyber Partner Program can use GPT-5.5 with Trusted Access for Cyber in customer products, while direct model access remains with those partners. Under Patch the Planet, OpenAI is working with maintainers and partners including cybersecurity firm Trail of Bits; Trail of Bits reported that one week of work found hundreds of bugs in projects including cURL, Python and Go, with 37 patches merged and more in flight.
