Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh announced a broad review of central bank operations in his first Federal Open Market Committee press conference on Wednesday, saying the Fed is appointing a task force in each of five areas central to the conduct of monetary policy.
Inflation remains well above the Fed's 2% target, Warsh said, adding that the central bank had "missed for 5 years" and vowing a unanimous commitment to deliver price stability.
