Coinbase Unveils U.S. Stock Options, AI Advisor and Pre-IPO Perpetuals
Coinbase broadened its earlier tokenized-stock announcement with a System Update that includes U.S. stock options, an AI-powered investment advisor, time-based prediction markets and more equity-linked derivatives. The company said stock options will arrive this summer, perpetual-style stock indexes such as AI10 are now available 24/7 to U.S. users with up to 20x leverage and instant settlement in USDC, time-based crypto price predictions are live from 15-minute to yearly intervals, and pre-IPO perpetuals will expand from SpaceX to Anthropic and OpenAI.
The broader package came hours after Coinbase said it plans to launch 1:1-backed tokenized U.S. stocks — which Chief Executive Officer Brian Armstrong said would represent actual ownership rather than a derivative or IOU — that can be traded, held and redeemed onchain and receive dividends. Coinbase has said the tokenized stocks will be available only in eligible jurisdictions outside the U.S., and described Coinbase Advisor as one of the first SEC-registered AI-powered investment advisors as it rolls the service out to Coinbase One members.
