Bitcoin Tops $67,000 as US-Iran Peace Deal Triggers $198 Million in Short Liquidations
Bitcoin climbed above $67,000, extending the rally that began after the preliminary US-Iran peace deal eased geopolitical tensions. The token was up nearly 5% over the past 24 hours, the global crypto market capitalization rose 4.4%, and the advance triggered about $198 million in short liquidations.
The move adds to a broader relief trade that had already lifted Asian equities and pushed oil lower after Washington and Tehran said they had reached an interim accord to halt hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Pakistan has said the agreement is due to be formally signed on June 19 in Switzerland, leaving traders focused on whether the de-escalation holds through implementation.
