Accenture Shares Sink 19% in Record Drop After Q4 Revenue Forecast Misses Estimates
Accenture shares fell 19% in their biggest one-day drop on record after the technology consulting firm forecast fourth-quarter revenue of $17.75 billion to $18.4 billion, below the $18.47 billion consensus estimate, and reported a 2% decline in third-quarter bookings to $19.3 billion. Third-quarter revenue rose 6% to $18.7 billion and diluted earnings per share increased 9% to $3.80, with profit beating estimates even as revenue missed.
Accenture maintained its full-year local-currency revenue growth outlook of 3% to 4% and adjusted EPS guidance of $13.78 to $13.90. Still, the weaker fourth-quarter forecast came as the company warned of lower revenue growth as AI threatens IT consultancy, even as Chief Executive Officer Julie Sweet said Accenture is seeing more large-scale AI transformation programs.
