Zhipu Surges 33% as JPMorgan Raises Target, US Curbs on Anthropic Lift China AI Bets
Zhipu, a Chinese AI model maker, surged 33% after JPMorgan raised its price target, as investors bet domestic developers could gain from US curbs that forced Anthropic to disable its most advanced AI models.
The move extends the fallout from last week’s Washington export-control order on Anthropic’s Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models. Anthropic said the national-security directive barred access by foreign nationals and required it to shut the models off for all users to ensure compliance, though the company disputed the government’s assessment. JPMorgan also downgraded domestic rival MiniMax.

@andrewcurran_This allegedly was triggered by a successful jailbreak of Mythos by an unnamed group who reported it to the government. We will hopefully get details soon.

@deanwballI can’t tell if this is lawfare against Anthropic in particular or extreme national-security hawkery. Regardless, it is simply cartoonish.
@andrewcurran_Apparently the administration asked Anthropic to not release Mythos 5 or Fable 5 at all, and this is a reaction to them doing it anyway.
