Iran launched missiles and drones at bases hosting U.S. forces in Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait after U.S. strikes on Iranian targets, with Jordan’s military saying it intercepted 20 missiles and Bahrain reporting Iranian drones were downed over Hamad Town and Manama. Kuwait said its air defenses engaged hostile aerial targets and briefly shut the country’s airspace before reopening it.
The exchange followed U.S. strikes on Iranian air defense, ground-control and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz, which Washington said were a proportional response to the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter. Bahrain’s interior ministry said falling debris from intercepted drones lightly injured an 11-year-old girl and damaged homes and vehicles, while footage from Jordan showed Patriot batteries engaging incoming ballistic missiles; Iranian claims that U.S. bases or aircraft were destroyed were not independently verified.
