Jordan, Kuwait Intercept 20 Missiles and 24 Drones as Iran Targets US Bases

politicswarworldiranmiddle-east 844 posts · 109 accounts

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it struck 18 targets at bases used by US forces in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, including the Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and air bases in the three countries. Jordan’s military said it intercepted 20 missiles launched from Iran, while Kuwait said its air defenses shot down 24 Iranian drones over its airspace in the past 48 hours, with limited material damage and no casualties.

The exchanges followed US strikes on Iranian air-defense, ground-control and surveillance radar sites that Washington described as a proportional response to the downing of a US Army Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. Bahrain said debris from intercepted Iranian drones lightly injured an 11-year-old girl and damaged homes and vehicles in Hamad Town and Manama, while Kuwait temporarily closed its airspace before reopening; US officials said initial assessments found almost all incoming missiles and drones were intercepted and there were no reports of harm to US personnel or known damage to US locations.
