Albania Prosecutors Freeze Company Bank Accounts in Probe of $4 Billion Kushner-Linked Resort
Albanian anti-corruption prosecutors froze the bank accounts of a landholding company linked to a planned $4 billion luxury resort associated with Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, widening an investigation into allegedly fraudulent property titles and changes to protected coastal land. The move came as thousands of protesters marched in Tirana on Wednesday against the project.
The development has drawn days of demonstrations over plans to build on protected coastal areas. Earlier protests focused on Sazan Island and parts of a protected national park, while the latest march opposed construction in the ecologically sensitive Zvernec-Narta wetland and lagoon area near Vlora, where the company recently purchased beachfront land.
