US Proposes Additional 10% Duty on Indonesian Exports Over Forced-Labor Probe
Indonesian exports to the US would face an additional 10% duty under a Section 301 trade action tied to Washington's investigation into goods made with forced labor, Indonesia's chief economics minister said. The proposed levy would place Indonesia in the lower band of a broader US tariff plan covering 60 economies.
The Trump administration's plan would impose extra duties of 10% or 12.5% on countries it says failed to curb trade in forced-labor goods. The tariffs are not immediate, with written comments due July 6 and public hearings starting July 7, and Indonesia may still obtain 18 US tariff exclusions despite the proposed 10% duty.
