Google, MediaTek Qualify Intel EMIB-T Packaging for TPU v8t Amid TSMC CoWoS Shortage
Google and design partner MediaTek have qualified Intel Corp.’s EMIB-T packaging for Google’s TPU v8t, code-named Zebrafish, according to a Taiwan supply-chain media report. The report said the move was driven by a shortage of CoWoS packaging capacity at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.
The same report said AP Memory’s ultra-thin S-SiCap silicon capacitors will go directly inside EMIB-T packages and will be manufactured by Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. It also described Intel’s work with Taiwan supply-chain partners as boosting the EMIB-T packaging technology.
