Oil Rises for Third Day, WTI Nears $95 Amid Signs US-Iran Talks Are Stalling
Oil rose for a third straight day in early Asian trading, with U.S. crude futures jumping more than $2 and West Texas Intermediate climbing toward $95 a barrel, as signs that U.S.-Iran talks were stalling and intensifying Middle East hostilities renewed fears of supply disruptions.
The gains followed conflicting signals on diplomacy after President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington remained in talks with Tehran, while Iranian media reported that message exchanges aimed at a preliminary memorandum of understanding had stopped. Traders are focused on the risk that prolonged disruptions to Persian Gulf exports, including through the Strait of Hormuz, could tighten global crude markets; TD Securities said Brent could average $104 in the second half, with upside above $150 if regional supply shortages worsen.
