TSMC Sees Chip Supply Falling Short of AI-Fueled Demand for Years, Keeps Revenue Growth Above 30%
At a shareholders' meeting, TSMC said global chip supply will fall short of AI-fueled demand for years and reiterated that full-year revenue growth in U.S. dollar terms will exceed 30% this year. CEO C.C. Wei said AI demand is shifting from generative and Q&A-focused models toward agentic AI and command-execution systems, increasing token consumption and computing needs and supporting demand for advanced semiconductors.
The company has established a pilot line for its CoPoS advanced packaging technology and expects meaningful volume growth in two to three years. Wei also said TSMC has purchased High-NA EUV equipment for research, but current production needs do not justify the technology's cost, while its two Arizona land parcels should meet expansion needs for the next decade.
