Barry Diller Launches $18 Billion Takeover Offer for MGM Resorts
Barry Diller’s People Inc. has offered to buy the rest of MGM Resorts in a deal that would value the casino giant at about $18 billion, the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times reported. Earlier reports on the proposed terms put the offer at $48.30 a share.
The latest accounts indicate the takeover effort has moved beyond preparation. Earlier reports had described Diller as preparing a bid for the portion of MGM he doesn’t already own, before later reports said the offer had been made.
