Brent Slips to $93.94 as Trump Says Iran Talks Continue
Oil prices retreated and European natural-gas prices fell after President Donald Trump said discussions with Iran were continuing, while Mehr News reported Tehran was still reviewing the final text and had not yet sent a response to Washington. U.S. crude fell $1 to $91.16 a barrel and Brent crude slipped $1.04 to $93.94.
The move followed a volatile Monday in which IRGC-affiliated Tasnim reported that Iran had suspended message exchanges with the US over Israel’s operations in Lebanon, helping push Brent as high as $96 a barrel. Trump later said talks were continuing “at a rapid pace” and that he expected an agreement within a week to extend the ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, though uncertainty over whether a deal will be reached kept losses in European gas limited.
