Polymarket Resolves $118 Million Strategy Bitcoin-Sale Market to ‘No,’ Prompting Dispute
Polymarket resolved a market on whether Strategy sold Bitcoin before the end of May to "No" after about $118 million in volume, prompting a dispute over the outcome. The ruling came after Strategy disclosed in an SEC filing on June 1 that it sold 32 Bitcoin between May 26 and May 31 for about $2.5 million, its first sale since 2022.
Strategy said the proceeds are expected to fund preferred stock dividends, and its holdings stood at 843,706 Bitcoin as of May 31. Users challenging the Polymarket result questioned whether later explanations changed how the original rules were applied. Polymarket said it was aware of the dispute and had set a 1 p.m. ET June 1 deadline for any clarification before the market proceeded to settlement.
