Nvidia Vera Rubin Shift to Lower-Capacity SoCAMM2 Modules Raises LPDDR Demand 10%-20%, Meritz Says
Nvidia has changed the shipment mix of LPDDR5X SoCAMM2 modules for its NVL72 Vera Rubin systems, according to Meritz Securities, shifting toward lower-capacity parts while increasing total order volumes. Meritz said 192-gigabyte modules are being cut by half, 96-gigabyte modules are rising nearly sixfold to become the mainstream product and 64-gigabyte modules are increasing 50%, leaving total SoCAMM2 LPDDR demand 10% to 20% above its previous forecast.
The assessment suggests the reported reduction in Rubin SoCAMM capacity reflects a mix adjustment rather than weaker demand, as Nvidia prioritizes expanding Vera Rubin system shipments amid tight memory supply. Meritz said the systems can be upgraded to higher-capacity modules after initial shipments; Foxconn has said Vera Rubin compute trays are already in mass production, and Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang said Nvidia had broad supply-chain support even as it remained supply constrained.
