Crypto Liquidations Hit $1.72 Billion as Short-Term Bitcoin Holders Send 53,800 BTC to Exchanges at Loss
About $1.72 billion of crypto positions were liquidated over 24 hours, including $1.49 billion of longs, while CryptoQuant data showed the strongest capitulation signal of the year among Bitcoin short-term holders. CryptoQuant said 53,800 BTC were transferred to exchanges at a loss while profit-taking inflows fell to zero, marking the most extreme loss-driven transfer event among short-term holders so far this year.
CryptoQuant said the pressure was coming from investors who accumulated Bitcoin near recent highs around $80,000 and were selling into weakness rather than continuing to hold. Earlier in the selloff, Bitcoin fell below $62,000 for the first time since early February and Ether slipped under $1,700, underscoring how the unwind spread across digital assets.
