TikTok Owner ByteDance Weighs Up to $70 Billion in 2026 AI, Data-Center Capex
Bloomberg reported, citing sources, that ByteDance is discussing capital spending of as much as $70 billion in 2026 to expand data centers and AI infrastructure. Much of the outlay would be underwritten by about $50 billion of profit from 2025, and ByteDance had previously increased its AI capital expenditure plan for the year to roughly $30 billion.
The spending plan follows an earlier deal for Qualcomm to supply ByteDance with millions of application-specific integrated circuits for AI data centers supporting AI agents in the Doubao chatbot. New data centers are planned in China, Southeast Asia and Brazil, while the Qualcomm arrangement depends on the chips staying within U.S. legal compute thresholds for China.
