OpenAI Generates $5.7 Billion in Q1, but Operating Loss Tops Revenue
OpenAI generated about $5.7 billion in first-quarter revenue, driven in part by rapid growth in its Codex coding agent and business sales, according to The Information. Even so, the company lost more than $1 for every dollar it brought in and posted a negative 122% operating margin in the quarter.
Earlier reporting from The Information said OpenAI's paying subscriber count rose to 55 million and that its first-quarter revenue was nearly $1 billion higher than Anthropic's in the same period.
