Trump Invites Musk, Cook and Other CEOs for Beijing Talks With Xi

politicsus-foreign-policyworldchina 34 posts · 28 accounts

The White House is inviting Tesla’s Elon Musk, Apple’s Tim Cook, Larry Fink, Boeing’s Kelly Ortberg and other executives to accompany President Donald Trump on his trip to Beijing this week, with more than a dozen US business leaders expected to join the delegation for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Their presence expands the corporate contingent around a visit that comes as the two countries seek to stabilize a relationship strained by tensions over trade, Taiwan and the Iran war.

Trump and Xi are scheduled to hold talks Thursday and Friday in Beijing. Trump has said he is ready to discuss US arms sales to Taiwan during the visit, putting one of the main sources of bilateral tension directly on the agenda.
