Iraq’s April Hormuz Exports Drop to 10 Million Barrels as Some Crude Shifts to Ceyhan
Iraq exported 10 million barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz in April, down from about 93 million barrels a month before the Iran war, Oil Minister Basim Mohammed said on Saturday. Baghdad has redirected some Basra and Kirkuk crude through the port of Ceyhan and hopes to raise those exports to at least 500,000 barrels a day, he said.
The added detail builds on Iraq's earlier disclosure of April shipments through Hormuz and shows how the conflict has altered export routes. Earlier ship-tracking reports showed individual cargoes resuming passage through the waterway, including the Yuan Hua Hu, a Chinese supertanker carrying 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude, and a Panama-flagged tanker managed by Japanese refiner Eneos.
