Trump, Xi Meet in Beijing as Tariff Truce Extension Comes Into Focus
President Donald Trump greeted Chinese President Xi Jinping at Beijing's Great Hall of the People on Thursday, opening a closely watched summit after arriving in the capital with a business delegation that included Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. The talks are expected to cover Iran, trade and Taiwan.
Reuters reported the sides are weighing tariff cuts on $30 billion of imports as part of a managed-trade push, while the Financial Times said both leaders are also seeking an extension of the tariff truce. Trump is also seeking Chinese help on Iran, with Washington hoping Beijing can use its influence as Iran's top oil customer to help end the war.
