Uber Profit Beats Estimates as Q2 Bookings Outlook Tops Expectations
Uber Technologies reported first-quarter adjusted earnings of 72 cents a share on revenue of $13.2 billion, with revenue slightly missing expectations but profitability and bookings coming in ahead of forecasts. Gross bookings rose 25% from a year earlier to $53.7 billion, adjusted EBITDA increased 33% to $2.5 billion, and the company forecast second-quarter adjusted EBITDA of $2.70 billion to $2.80 billion on gross bookings of $56.25 billion to $57.75 billion, both above estimates.
Operating trends remained strong, with trips up 20% to 3.6 billion and monthly active platform consumers rising 17% to 199 million. Uber also said it reached 50 million Uber One members, with those subscribers driving half of gross bookings across its Mobility and Delivery businesses.
