Financial Stability Board Warns Private Credit’s $2 Trillion Boom Raises Stability Fears
The Financial Stability Board outlined a tentative plan to tame risks in private credit, as the sector’s $2 trillion boom raises global stability fears. In a report on the private credit ecosystem, the watchdog said it identified vulnerabilities linked to the market’s connections with banks and lenders’ credit exposures.
The FSB said further work should focus on improving transparency, analyzing interlinkages and strengthening oversight. The step comes as escalating warnings from bankers and policymakers about potential dangers in private credit collide with a political push toward deregulation.
