Stablecoin Yield Compromise Clears Path for CLARITY Act Markup

cryptocrypto-regulationpoliticsus-legislation 6 posts · 5 accounts

Senators Thom Tillis and Angela Alsobrooks released a stablecoin-yield compromise that could clear the way for a markup of the long-stalled CLARITY Act, a digital-asset market-structure bill. The compromise addresses how companies can offer customers yield and rewards on stablecoin holdings.

Senator Tim Scott said lawmakers are nearing consensus and are targeting a bipartisan markup in May. A provision on software developers under Section 1960 is still awaiting sign-off from Senator Chuck Grassley as the bill goes through final touch-ups, and Scott has said a floor vote could come in June or July, putting the measure on track to reach Trump's desk this summer.
